Vertex Light Mapper
A downloadable tool
Vertex Light Mapper is a tool for Unity that allows you to very quickly bake lighting information into vertex colors. This has a practical use for games that want to look retro but it can also be used in high-poly cases as an extremely fast alternative to Unity's implementation of Enlighten.
The tool was originally developed for use in my game BallisticNG, but since the original version I have added some new features, optimized it more and made its integration with Unity much nicer.
Lighting is stored in the base folder of your Unity project, when you build your game you must then copy that folder to the base directory of your built game.
Lighting is baked on any objects that are marked as static. For lighting to show up you must be using a shader that supports vertex colors.
Provided is a basic sample scene and some scripts to show you how to use baked lighting to apply colors to dynamic objects.
